Code of Ethics

1.1. Ethics Policy
1.1.1. Student-Student Relations
Students shall relate to each other as peers with honour and respect to opinions, beliefs, values,  race and cultural diversities.
1.1.2. Staff-Staff Relations
Staff shall relate to each other as fellows with honour and respect to opinions, beliefs,values, race and cultural diversities.
1.1.3. Staff-Students Relations
Staff shall relate to students as mentors and/ or parents. A high standard of morality, discipline, love, care and exemplary life would therefore be expected of staff in relating to students. Similarly, a high level of respect and obedience will be required of students towards staff.
1.1.4. Institution-Public Relations
The University College exists to serve the interest of the public. Consequently, the institute shall relate to the public in a manner that promotes cordiality, harmony and development.
1.1.5. Conflict of Interest
The University College shall avoid any act or conduct that is in conflicts with the interest of the state. Similarly, staff, students and stakeholders of the University College shall also avoid any act or conduct that conflict with the interest of the University College.
1.1.6. Accounting for Research Funds
Research funds given to any staff, student or organization shall be accounted for at the end of the research.
1.2. Breaches of Acceptable Codes of Conduct Breaches of acceptable codes of conduct with regard to the above shall attract sanctions from the disciplinary committee. Depending on the gravity of the offence, the offender shall be warned, suspended or dismissed.
1.3. Conduct of Ethics in Research Academic staff, students and all other staff shall conduct research based upon the following conduct of ethics;
 
research shall be original;
researcher shall demonstrate integrity and professionalism;
researcher shall observe fairness and equity;
researcher shall demonstrate intellectual honesty;
researcher’s work shall be devoid of conflicts of interest or potential conflicts of interest;
researcher shall ensure the safety and well-being of those associated with the research; and
research methods and results shall be open to scrutiny and debate.
